Indications
Maintenance treatment in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Adjunct therapy for controlling severe asthma (stage III and above) in adults
Add-on treatment in combination with corticosteroids and long-acting beta-adrenergic agonists to improve symptom control in patients over 18 years of age
Reduction of dyspnea (shortness of breath) episodes and improvement of patients’ quality of life
Mechanism of Action
Theobromide acts on the smooth muscles surrounding the airways. By blocking muscarinic receptors, it causes relaxation of the bronchial muscles, resulting in airway dilation and easier airflow.
In simpler terms, Theobromide works like a key that unlocks airway constriction, helping patients breathe more comfortably and deeply.
The effect of this medication is long-lasting, and once-daily administration is generally sufficient to maintain symptom control throughout the day.
