Seretol

This product is composed of two active pharmaceutical ingredients: Salmeterol (as xinafoate) and Fluticasone propionate.
Keeping the airways open helps facilitate the movement of air in and out of the lungs. Salmeterol is a long-acting bronchodilator. The medicines in this class exert their effect for about 12 hours. Fluticasone propionate is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and swelling in the lungs.

Your doctor has prescribed this medicine to help prevent breathing problems such as:

  • Asthma

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

It should be noted that the Seretol 50/250 dosage also helps reduce the frequency of COPD symptoms. You should take Seretol daily, exactly as prescribed by your doctor. This ensures the medication works effectively. Seretol helps prevent shortness of breath and wheezing.

However, Seretol must not be used to treat or relieve sudden attacks of shortness of breath or wheezing. In such cases, you will need a fast-acting rescue inhaler.

How to Use

Always use Seretol exactly as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not stop taking the medication or reduce the dose without your doctor’s advice.
Seretol must be inhaled orally so that it reaches the lungs.
Even with correct use of the inhaler, you may not taste or feel the powder entering your mouth or airways.

Following your doctor’s instructions regarding the frequency and timing of doses is very important. If using Seretol for asthma treatment, your doctor will regularly monitor your symptoms.

If your asthma or breathing worsens, inform your doctor immediately. You may experience increased wheezing, chest tightness, or a greater need for a fast-acting rescue inhaler. In any of these cases, continue using Seretol as prescribed without increasing the dose or frequency. Your lung condition may worsen, and you could become seriously ill. Further treatment should be guided by your doctor.

If you accidentally take more than the prescribed dose, notify your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
