Formodil

Formodil is an inhalation medication prescribed for the treatment of asthma in patients who use inhaled steroids but still experience symptoms such as wheezing.   • Beta-blockers (oral or eye drops) used for high blood pressure, heart failure, angina, anxiety, or abnormal heart rhythms. Eye drops for glaucoma may contain beta-blockers.

  • Diuretics used for edema (water and salt retention), heart failure, or high blood pressure.

  • Macrolide antibiotics such as Erythromycin or Azithromycin for bacterial infections.

  • Sympathomimetic drugs (adrenaline-like) used for asthma or nasal congestion.

  • Quinidine, Disopyramide, and Procainamide used to treat heart arrhythmias.

  • Phenothiazine derivatives used for psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, psychosis, or anxiety disorders.

  • Digitalis used for heart failure or abnormal heart rhythms.

  • Antidepressants or mood disorder medications such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, or phenothiazines.

  • Antihistamines used for allergic reactions, such as Astemizole or Mizolastine.

  • Theophylline and Aminophylline used for asthma and inflammatory conditions.

  • Inhalation anesthetics such as halogenated hydrocarbons (e.g., Halothane) used in surgery.

  • If you are planning to undergo surgery with anesthesia, inform your doctor that you are using Formodil.

  • Anticholinergics (e.g., Ipratropium Bromide) used for gastrointestinal, respiratory, or genitourinary disorders.

Use in Children

Formodil is not recommended for children under 6 years of age.

  • Chest pain or tightness (possible angina)

Common side effects (up to 1 in 10 people):

  • Headache, tremors, palpitations, worsening asthma in children aged 5–12

Uncommon side effects (up to 1 in 100 people):

  • Anxiety, nervousness, sleep disturbances, dizziness, increased heart rate, sore throat, muscle cramps or pain, dry mouth

Very rare side effects (up to 1 in 10,000 people):

  • Nausea, loss of taste, swelling of hands, ankles, or feet

Side effects of unknown frequency:

  • High blood sugar (symptoms may include thirst, excessive urination, prolonged fatigue), low blood potassium, high blood pressure, cough, and skin rash
